Our first program is the St. Peter’s Sack Lunch program. More than thirty people spend over seventy-five hours each week preparing 1,100 lunches. A typical lunch for a single person consists of a sandwich, chips, a treat and a spiritual message. Once prepared, volunteers transport the lunches on a specified route based on need throughout the city each and every Saturday. In fact, approximately 53,000 lunches are made and distributed each year to the hungry in Fort Wayne.

Any one wishing to volunteer to help with this awesome project, should call the Center at 744-3977 and get put on a schedule or to schedule a field trip for a class service project.

Anyone wishing to donate to the program can do so in various ways.

  • Monetary donations through the website donation page
  • Monetary donations through the mail
(make Checks payable to: The Franciscan Center, Inc.)
  • Supplies such as lunch bags, sandwich bags, napkins, gallon size storage bags, twist ties, cookies, chips, etc. are always welcomed and appreciated. (On a weekly basis we go through 950 lunch sacks, 2,700 sandwich bags, 950 buns, 4-1/2 gallons of mayonnaise/salad dressing or mustard, 950 napkins and 240 plastic handled grocery bags.)
